Nothing Lasts Forever
Nothing Lasts Forever

Nothing Lasts Forever

The sun rises and sets,
And the seasons come and go.
Everything we know,
Is in a constant flow.

The flowers bloom in spring,
But eventually, they wilt away.
The things we love and cherish,
Won’t always stay.

Our youth fades into memory,
And time keeps moving on.
The things we hold onto dearly,
Will one day be gone.

We should not despair,
For in letting go, we find a way.
To embrace the beauty of life,
It hurts that it may be the only way.

For in every ending lies a new beginning,
A chance for something more.
So let us cherish every moment,
And never take for granted what’s in store.

For though nothing lasts forever,
It’s the journey that we’ll remember.
So let us live life to the fullest,
And embrace the changing weather.

Every time I get sad about a change in my life or losing something, may it be a proud possession or a dear friendship – the words of Adam Lavigne pop into my head: “Nothing lasts forever, but be honest babe, it hurts, but it may be the only way…”. It feels to me like this might be happening (right now) too often in my life. I just have to remind myself: Nothing lasts forever – it hurts, but it might be the only way… That is what inspired this poem. As they say, change is the only constant.
